Maraton Apuseni is a landmark mountain-running event held amid the picturesque landscapes of the Apuseni Mountains, in the Buscat Resort area of Cluj County. The event offers five varied routes, ranging from ultramarathon and marathon to half marathon, cross-country and a family race for children and parents. Participants enjoy an authentic experience in nature, crossing dense forests, spectacular ridgelines and traditional villages in a friendly, festive atmosphere. The event is organized by the Romanian Alpine Club, Cluj Branch, and celebrates its 15th edition in 2026, promising sporting challenges and opportunities to socialize at the mountain’s pace.

The ultramarathon starts at 05:00. Technical briefings for each race take place on race day. The Family Race has staggered starts by age group at 12:30 and 13:00. The event includes activities for children, family yoga, a party and an awards ceremony. The organizer recommends booking accommodation and transport in advance. Routes to suit every taste, a mountain adventure event, promotion of nature and local traditions, volunteering activities, and a social cause supporting reforestation.
