2X2 Race

2X2 Race is an extremely technical and challenging mountain ultramarathon, held entirely above 2,000 m in the Făgăraș Mountains, Romania. The main 45 km course with 4,200 m of positive elevation gain passes over Romania’s two highest peaks, Moldoveanu and Negoiu. Two other races, X1 Race (26 km, 2,400 m D+) and X2 Race (18 km, 1,900 m D+), are also highly technical and intense, intended for runners with mountain experience. Participation is limited and subject to experience requirements to ensure competitors’ safety given the high physical and mental demands.

Race kits can be collected at Cabana Salvamont Bâlea Lac on August 23 between 18:00 and 22:00, with collection on Saturday morning possible in exceptional circumstances. Participants must present their ID card and complete a declaration of responsibility. Race entries cannot be transferred, but the kit may be collected by another designated person. Limited number of competitors: 200 for each race. The race follows the principle of total self-sufficiency, with no aid stations provided along the course (except for the aid stations for 2X2 Race).
